Thirty-six homeowners, farmers and local business people turned out in force on the 24th of February to ‘talk solar and battery storage’ at a Buloke Shire Council supported event hosted by the Mallee Sun Solar Bulk-Buy.
Held at the East Charlton Hotel, the event was opened by Cr David Vis of Buloke Shire Council. Council is a partner of the Mallee Sun Solar Bulk-Buy program which is a project of the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance, a not-for-profit organization that works with 13 councils in central and northern Victoria to help encourage the adoption of renewable energy.
“Already 26% of homes in Buloke Shire have solar which is fantastic” said Jo Kaptein, bulk-buy organizer. “With so much sun in this region, it makes sense to harvest it to power your home or business. People tell us that they loved coming to the info meeting as it gives them the knowledge to be able to compare different offers from solar companies with more confidence. Around 15 people have already been in touch with us to request a quotation for their property, which is very encouraging.”
“We are holding another information meeting in Wycheproof on 24 March from 6-7.30pm at the Wycheproof Supper Room at the Wycheproof Shire Hall. We hope that this will also prove popular with local people in the area.”
