MASH stands for 'More Australian Solar Homes'
MASH Community Solar Bulk-Buy
MASH - the campaign for More Australian Solar Homes - is a community solar bulk-buy that makes it easier and more affordable to households to go solar and add batteries. MASH is owned and managed by the not-for-profit Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance which supports councils across central and northern Victoria with climate change mitigation activities. MASH started 5 years with the aim of installing 50 solar rooftops on homes in Castlemaine. Today, there are now over 1,500 MASH solar homes with the majority installed in the Mt Alexander Shire, Hepburn Shire, Bendigo and Macedon Ranges Shire. From the middle of 2020, four new Councils have come on board as partners - Loddon Shire Council, the Rural City of Ararat, Pyrenees Shire Council and Central Goldfields Shire Council.
Each year, MASH is cutting household electricity bills by more than $1M and CO2 emissions by over 9,000 tonnes - equivalent to around 1,800 less cars on our roads.
As part of the MASH promise to give back to the communities where we work, we've raised over $100,000 for free solar for community groups & schools. We've donated 14 free systems and we're getting ready to donate more!
