The uptake of battery storage systems in our region is starting to gather pace. Castlemaine residents, Bev and John Tozer, are one of around 20 householders who’ve bought a battery storage system through the MASH and Hepburn community solar bulk-buys in the last three months.
They’ve kindly agreed to host an event at their home on Saturday 16 June to show people how their new solar-plus-battery system works and to share what they’ve learned so far.
John says, “We love the feeling of being able to produce our own electricity, and reduce our reliance on the grid. 87% of our electricity needs have been met from our solar PV and Tesla Powerwall 2 battery since March. We reckon that the payback on this investment will be around 8 years, or possibly less if electricity prices continue to rise.”
The event starts at 10.30am with a presentation that explains how a grid-connected home battery system works, followed by John Tozer giving his personal account of their experiences to-date. The event will finish at 12.30pm.
