The climate petition signed by over 400 Central Victorians calling for a stronger Victorian Renewable Energy Target “is very important and I will pass it on to the Premier”, said Maree Edwards, State Member for Bendigo West, in an interview with Castlemaine Mail published 4 March 2016.
“We are presently putting together a road map to increase our renewable energy target and as part of that we will be doing consultations right across the state including in Castlemaine”, said Ms Edwards.
The petition was organised by The Hub Foundation Castlemaine and gathered over 400 signatures from concerned residents across Central Victoria.
The wording on the petition: “We the undersigned request that the government legislate for a separate Victorian Renewable Energy Target of 30% by 2020 and 50% by 2025; greater incentives for saving energy; closure of the Hazelwood power station; and a big increase in the solar feed-in tariff.”
