Flynn Hart and his partner had wanted solar panels for a long time. Being recent first-time home owners, it was something that, renovation budget allowing, they were excited about doing. As it turned out, the renovation budget didn’t allow – but Hart’s parents stepped up.
They said, ‘can we put solar panels on your roof, and you just pay us the difference of your power bill over that time?’. Effectively we get the solar panels for free, they do a good thing and a young family doesn’t have to fork out so much money up front.
Hart went with the MASH2 Premium System that comes with an app so he can wirelessly monitor what it’s doing at any given moment, how much it is generating and what he’s generated over the day.
The thing that was really clear about the systems that were on offer is that the quality for the price was really good. It wasn’t a focus on the cheapest system; it was a focus on getting quality systems on people’s roofs for a good price. I really liked that. I think they’ve done their research and positioned it really well in the market, says Flynn.
He says the process was very easy and smooth.
I have nothing bad to say about them. They make it very clear that there will be some waiting periods, he said, referring to both MASH2 and SunEdison, the provider.
They even send you little diagrams of where you are in the process and all the steps that are taken until you’re actually connected to the grid and feeding in. So at no point did I feel frustrated or that it was taking longer than I expected.
There are not very many products you buy these days where you have to wait. So it was really important that those kind of frameworks were in place.
As if all that customer service were not enough, the installers also made a cubby house out of the solar panel box for his 15 month old daughter, Else.
They cut a little door and a window in the box and she was in there saying hello to people as they went by.
