Households and businesses across central Victorian are having MASH solar rooftops installed at an astounding rate. Now over 950 homes have a MASH solar PV system and an increasing number of businesses, schools and other organisations are also going ahead with solar, purchasing it from the MASH community solar bulk-buy project. This is cutting CO2 emissions by around 6,600 tonnes per year – and household bills by at least $850,00o annually.
This month alone, the MASH bulk-buy is installed around 50 new solar rooftops in homes – mostly in the Mount Alexander Shire, Macedon Ranges Shire and some in Bendigo and also Hepburn Shire, said Jo Kaptein, Executive Officer at The Hub Foundation who organise the MASH bulk-buy.
Local installers are doing much of this work too, creating employment in our community.
MASH has supported my business over several years to provide local employment. I live in the area and employ local guys. So it’s been a great boost”, said Morgan Kurrajong, Owner, Universal Power and Light, Castlemaine (installer on the MASH project).
Local businesses are also getting MASH systems installed which is exciting.
We’re installing a number of larger systems (from 15kW to 100kW) on businesses in the Shire and helping them not just with the solar side of things, but also evaluating the financing options available. This is proving to be popular and we’re ready and able to help, said Jo Kaptein.
