An exciting target of 200 residential solar installations in 2020 has been set by the Hepburn Solar Bulk Buy team.
The Hepburn Solar Bulk Buy is part of the big picture plan to achieve zero net emissions in the Hepburn Shire by 2029, the goal of the Hepburn Shire Z-Net program.
Making a difference
“If 200 installations are achieved this year, the emissions reduction will be around 1400 tonnes of CO2-e per year,” said Taryn Lane from Hepburn Wind. “That’s around 300 less cars on our roads, which would make a big difference,” she said.
Strong partnership
A partnership between Hepburn Shire Council, Hepburn Wind, Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance and Hepburn Z-NET, the bulk-buy aims to make it easier and more affordable for people to invest in solar and battery storage.
“Whilst ambitious, this target is definitely achievable because solar makes financial sense for most households at the moment due to the attractive rebates,” said bulk-buy organiser, Jo Kaptein. “Plus, lots of people tell us they want to do something practical to reduce CO2 emissions and having a green power station of their roof is a great way of doing this,” she said.
Supported by Hepburn Shire Council
“Hepburn Shire Council is pleased to continue its support of the Hepburn Solar Bulk Buy,” said Cr Licia Kokocinski, Mayor of Hepburn Shire Council. “Community info meetings are an important aspect of the Hepburn Solar Bulk Buy, with already over 400 people attending a meeting in the last 18 months. These will continue throughout 2020 and we encourage anyone thinking of investing in solar to go to one.”
February info meetings
The first in a new series of info meetings about the bulk-buy will be held at the Daylesford Senior Citizens Centre on Wednesday 19 February and at the Creswick Town Hall on Thursday 20 February, from 6pm to 7.30pm.
